Democratic Party of Lake County Vice Chairman has died

Pete Couvall, 73, died, Sunday December 9, 2018. He was the long-term Vice Chairman of the Democratie Party of Lake County serving under State Senator Terry Link.

"Pete and I grew up together," says Link. "We lived in the same town and went to the same schools. He was probably most trusted ally in the Democratic Party,"

"For as long as I've known Pete, he's worked really hard on behalf of the party. He's goingto be missed," says State Senator Melinda Bush. "Somehow it's appropriate that in his last days, he got to see Lake County for the first time have a Democratic majority on the County Board."

Services for Couvall was held at the Memorial Chapel of Waukegan on Wednesday and a celebration of Life for Couvall was scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 13 at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthordox Church of Libertyville. Couvall was the former owner and operator of GoJo's Restaurant. He is reported to have owned and managed several restaurants. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Donna Edwards Couvall; a son, Jonathan Couvall; and his parents, Anthony and Georgia Couvall. He is survived by a son, Anthony Peter, and several siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Couvall was born Dec. 23, 1944, in Waukegan and graduated from North Chicago High

School in 1962. He then attended Loras College and The University of Dubuque.
