Seniors Temporarily Displaced From Apartment Building After Water Line Break

About 200 residents of a downtown Waukegan high-rise won't be allowed to return home for at least several days until water service can be restored, officials said.

Waukegan spokesman David Motley said the seniors at the 12-story Lilac Ledge apartments on Washington Street were evacuated on Pace buses and other means of transport on the night of Friday, October 19th, after a private water line leading to the building burst earlier in the day. He said the break was not related to the city's culvert replacement project near Lilac Ledge.
