Jail Visitor Entrance Relocated

Effective today, due to the ongoing renovations at the Lake County Jail, the public entrance is being moved to the lobby of the Community Based Corrections Center (CBCC), 15 South Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Waukegan. The previous entrance at 20 South County Street, Waukegan, is no longer in service.

Inmates being released from custody will be released at the CBCC Lobby. Any visitors coming to the Lake County Jail should also utilize the CBCC Lobby.

Candidates Forum

The Zion Area Democrats will present a Zion-Benton Candidate Forum for the upcoming 2018 election on Saturday, October 20th at 5:00pm, at the Market Inn Square, in Zion.

Candidates expected to inform the voters are Lt. Governor Candidate-Julianna Stratton, Attorney General Candidate-Kwame Raoul, State Representative for 61st District Candidate-Joyce Mason, Lake County Treasurer Candidate-Holly Kim, Lake County Sheriff Candidate-John Idleburg, and County Clerk Candidate- Kim O'Connor

Alligator in Lake Michigan

An alligator, around four feet long, was found swimming in Lake Michigan near Waukegan, city officials said.

Authorities said that the person who reported the alligator also took a video of it slowly swimming in the lake near the Waukegan Beach and showed it to responding crews.

Waukegan Police Animal Control and staff at the Larsen Marine Service were called to help remove the alligator from the water. Crews successfully rescued it and transported the alligator to the Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest.

Authorities did not say how the alligator got into Lake Michigan.

City of Zion Upcoming Meetings

Home Rule Information meeting will be held at City Hall from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p,m. On October 16, there will be a regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council at 7:00 p.m. On October 28, young people will be treated to a Zion Trick or Treat from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
