Historical Society Sponsors "A Walk Through Time"

The Historical Society of Zion in collaboration with the City of Zion, the Zion Park District and the Inn at Market Square Hotel and Banquet Center will present a walking tour of some of the notable landmarks of Zion's history. Organized by Claire Erickson, the event is this Sunday, September 16, 2018.

Tours will leave from The Inn at Market Square, 2723 Sheridan Rd in Zion beginning at 2:00 pm. The last tour will leave the hotel at 4:30 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at the Shiloh House or call 847-746-2427.

Pictured are Claire Erickson, and a boy scout, Aston, who are volunteering with others like Ginny Adams to clean up and plant flowers at one of the historic places, the Well of Shiloh known as Ester's Well at the south west corner of the Shiloh Pool parking lot.

The well was built by Neils Olling who came from Denmark to follow the ministry of the town's founder, Dr. John Alexander Dowie. Olling was a Mason. Constructed in the 1900's as an Artisan well, Ester's Well was said to have had healing powers. As part of church activity, many people where baptized in water from the well.
