Quinceañera is a Mexican Tradition

August 10, 2018

Lorely Fajardo, daughter of Armando and Grindy Fajardo, a Zion-Benton Township High School student celebrated the fiesta de quince años, or most commonly called the quinceañera. It is a traditional Spanish celebration commemorating a girl's 15th birthday. Traditionally this event marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood. Historically, girls are taught cooking, weaving and about child bearing by their mothers and other women in the community for their role as wives.

Lorely's celebration included a Mariachi Band, a cowboy on a dancing horse, and a party with lots of food, family and friends.
